LCDC discusses MLK on ‘Chicago Tonight: Black Voices’

Richard Townsell, Executive Director of our client Lawndale Christian Development Corporation, joins “Chicago Tonight: Black Voices” in January 2021 to discuss LCDC’s ongoing construction of affordable housing in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago and its MLK Historical Memorial District.

In 1966, Martin Luther King Jr. and his family took up temporary residence in North Lawndale to call attention to the slum conditions and discriminatory housing practices in the West Side neighborhood. Fifty-five years later, “Chicago Tonight: Black Voices” looks at current conditions and future plans in Lawndale.
